This is Issue 25, after all,&nbsp;so that might mean something.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>But hear me out first.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For those who don&#8217;t know who I am (and that&#8217;s approximately&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldometers.info\/world-population\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">8.1 billion people<\/a>), I am a speculative fiction&nbsp;<strong>author<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>writing coach<\/strong>&nbsp;who writes science fiction, dark fantasy, magical realism, and some horror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can find more about me on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bxwretlind.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">my website<\/a>, where you&#8217;ll also find&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/bxwretlind.com\/blog\/all-the-stuff\/\">blog articles<\/a>&nbsp;related to writing as well as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/bxwretlind.com\/blog\/review-guidelines\/\">book reviews<\/a>&nbsp;(and if you&#8217;re an author, you can&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/bxwretlind.com\/blog\/review-guidelines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">request a review<\/a>&nbsp;as well). There&#8217;s a complete <a href=\"https:\/\/bxwretlind.com\/blog\/bibliography\/\">bibliography<\/a>, too (even though there&#8217;s a shorter one down below&#8230;with a secret.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bxwretlind.com\/blog\/who-am-i\/\">&#8220;official&#8221; bio<\/a>\u00a0is always available to review, so I won&#8217;t get into all that (and if you REALLY want to get into specifics, you can see my professional\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/bwretlind\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LinkedIn page<\/a>\u00a0(say hi) where I\u00a0have a much better picture).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>So&#8230;who am I&nbsp;<u>really<\/u>&nbsp;and what can I offer?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As some know (and others probably guessed), I&#8217;ve written a few things&#8211;21 novels, novellas, collections, and two of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Ink-Enlightenment-Insights-Exercises-Writers-ebook\/dp\/B0C6H63613\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">weirdest<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Creating-Atmosphere-Weather-Literary-Device-ebook\/dp\/B0BTWB62QQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">creative writing<\/a>&nbsp;books ever. I decided to list them&nbsp;in this particular anniversary newsletter with links for you to get at least two of them&nbsp;for&nbsp;<strong>free&nbsp;<\/strong>(it&#8217;s like a treasure hunt).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s right. Dorrough&#8217;s debut novel centers around married couple Bill and Yvonne Smede and their circle of friends and neighbors. With its lack of plot and microscope on daily life,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B09W9QJ3HF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Revolution<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;evokes the conversational charm of shows like Seinfeld.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I lived north of Los Angeles for a time and was fascinated by the life people led in that &#8220;big city just over that mountain range.&#8221; I think that may be one of the reasons this book captivated me&#8211;I could relate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dorrough immediately pulled me into the world of his characters through witty dialogue and vivid everyday details. While the lack of traditional plot may put some readers off, I delighted in seeing the story threads artfully woven together. As Dorrough&#8217;s characters chased dreams and grappled with the realities of midlife, I found myself invested in their pursuits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Though&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B09W9QJ3HF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Revolution<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;lends itself to dipping in and out, I powered through, eager to see what cleverly observed human moment Dorrough would unwrap next. He delivers poignant yet humorous looks at the ennui that often accompanies middle age.
