Well, this is it–the final stop on my Sketches from the Spanish Mustang Blog Tour. I don’t know if this generated any interest out there, although I certainly hope it did.

Sketches from the Spanish Mustang took nearly a year and half to write, edit and publish. From the first day the idea hatched to the official release tomorrow (although it’s available today), I’ve lived with these characters, questioned them, become angry at them and generally treated them like family. I hope you take a chance to at least read a sample of the novel (which you can do at Amazon.com), and if you like it, buy it…then tell everyone else you know to do the same.

And now, the winner of the autographed copy of Sketches from the Spanish Mustang and the $50 Amazon.com gift card:

Linda Nance

Congratulations!

Available NOW: a unique story of love, vengeance, death and life. From the author who asked if madness was real comes a look through the eyes of a broken woman with a very unique gift . . . and a curse.

Sketches from the Spanish Mustang

– “With a skill on par with any of the great American novelists, Mr. Wretlind has penned a tale of such emotional and literary depth that it will haunt the reader long after the last page is turned. He has penned a tale filled with rage, sorrow, loss and just a little bit of hope. He has penned a tale that can only be described as a masterpiece.”

– “Wretlind takes readers on a unique journey that rips away the outer layers of people allowing us to stare into their souls where humanity is universal: no matter the genre of writing.”

There are dreams of fire, blood, twisted metal and faint, dying cries carried on the wind.

The Artist has lost far too much in such a short period of time. Her mind is flooded with uncertainty, self-reflection holds no absolution, and she knows her mirror is too difficult to scrutinize. Broken, she hopes to find peace with her one true gift. With a pencil, a sketchbook and a keen eye for the details of the soul, her lines and smudges, curves and tone reveal the stories behind her subjects.

Life emerges on the page—vengeance, salvation, love and death. Within a town forgotten, the Artist’s subjects fight for survival, only to be saved in the sketches of a woman with a gift . . . and a curse.

Remembering is penance.

– “I cannot recommend this or any of Wretlind’s writings more highly. He is a unique American voice and–I do not exaggerate here–a Pulitzer-caliber writer who deserves more recognition.”

– “…a unique and masterful writer…able to use the slightest descriptor to allow the readers to see them in their mind’s eye, to feel the things they feel, their wants and desires, their fears and regrets.”

– “Filled with cutting descriptions, all sharply detailed but fluid, this is very well-written and intelligent, acerbic in tone, and with a nice little twist there at the end.”

Wow. Stop #13, and I’m not really around to say “Wow. Stop #13.” Where am I? I’m away from the fires that have been eating away my town for the last few days, and I’m breathing in some of that fresh air. On the other hand, I’m also thinking about those people who did have to evacuate, those who lost homes already, and those who may be in harm’s way in the very near future. It’s scary stuff.

Today, though, I’m going to Jason Scott Gleason’s blog to talk about “What’s Next” in my writing life. I have plans.

What are they?

Check them out: http://www.endlessiterations.blogspot.com/

And check out Sketches from the Spanish Mustang, released on Wednedsay!

I don’t have a lot to say today, except: Sketches from the Spanish Mustang is available NOW! EARLY!

You can thank two things for this early release: a quick turn around from Amazon and Barnes and Noble, and my desire to get it out before I leave this buring post-apocolyptic town and head for fresh air (at least for the weekend).

Yes, Colorado Springs is burning.

And Sketches from the Spanish Mustang is available for you now.

And check out today’s stop on the Sketches from the Spanish Mustang Blog Tour. I’m headed to fellow writer and all-around awesome guy Dale Herring’s blog to ask “Should Theme Come First?”
